With over 25 years of hands-on experience, I specialise in heritage carpentry here in Wellington. I’ve spent my career working on the villas and bungalows that define the city, developing a clear understanding of traditional construction methods and how these homes perform over time. I focus on solutions for character home restoration and repairs that respect both the structure and materials of each house.I handle everything from sash window repair and timber door restoration to native timber flooring, trims and traditional joinery. I work primarily with Rimu, Matai, and Kauri, ensuring new work is carefully matched so it sits naturally within the home. Furniture & Antique Restoration
This same attention to detail carries into my Wellington workshop, where I restore antique and vintage furniture with a focus on repair, refinishing, and preservation. Whether it’s a family heirloom or a more recent vintage piece, the aim is to bring it back into use while retaining the character and originality that give it value.I carry out antique furniture repair, timber finishing, and structural restoration using appropriate methods and materials, keeping the work sound and true to form. Wherever possible, original components are retained and repaired rather than replaced, with a focus on careful, consistent results that last.
How I Work
I approach carpentry and restoration work carefully and transparently, with a focus on doing the job properly rather than rushing the process. Much of this work is nuanced and can reveal unpredictable variations throughout a project. For this reason, I generally provide an initial estimate and carry out the work on a charge-up basis, using a job sheet to clearly itemise labour and materials as work progresses. This allows the work to adapt as needed while maintaining transparency and budget control. All work is handled directly by me, with clear communication and reliability.
